About Jacob

Who I am, and what shaped me

Not a resume and not an autobiography. Just the parts of my story that explain how I lead and why I write.

Where I come from

I grew up in South Louisiana, under live oaks and Spanish moss, in a place that never made a show of looking after you. It simply did. Looking back, I was born into a pocket of grace I didn't deserve, and for a long time I didn't take care of it.

Service

I served in the United States Navy. The Navy taught me discipline, how to lead when the pressure is on, and that a team is only as strong as the people who keep showing up for each other. It also sent me home carrying things I didn't know how to put down.

The mess

There was a season when my life looked good from the outside and felt empty on the inside. I believed my mess was too big for grace. Finding out it wasn't, and rebuilding my faith one honest step at a time, is the story underneath everything I write.

The work

For more than 10 years I've led supply chain and operations teams: suppliers, planning, logistics, materials, continuous improvement and the projects that change how a plant runs. I earned my MBA at Louisiana State University and I'm a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). I care less about titles than about whether the work gets better and the people doing it grow.

What drives me

I'm a husband and a father first. Everything else grows from the same conviction: experience is only worth something when it helps the person next to you. In business, that means practical help that shows up in the numbers. In my writing, it means telling the truth about the mess so someone else knows they aren't too far gone.
